Intro
Accelint was awarded a $31 million Phase III Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract to develop and deliver virtual, adaptive training for the U.S. Navy Basic Electricity and Electronics (BEE) school. The effort supports the Navy's Ready, Relevant Learning (RRL) initiative aimed at modernizing the Navy's institutional training system.
Challenge
The Navy teaches BEE for surface engineering rates in apprentice technical training (ATT), delivered between boot camp and A school. The fundamental knowledge and skills acquired in ATT are vital to a sailor's success in A school and on-the-job training, laying the groundwork for understanding and applying A school learning objectives. The Navy needed to modernize BEE training delivery to provide more effective, adaptive instruction that prepares sailors for success in school and on the job.
Solution
Accelint, in partnership with Integration Innovation Inc. (i3), is developing and delivering a comprehensive virtual training package comprising 34 training modules covering the entire BEE curriculum. The solution integrates Accelint's Adaptive Training Services with i3's Virtual Training Suite (VTS) platform to create a high-fidelity, interactive learning environment. Key capabilities include:
- AI-powered adaptive training that guides students through courseware, tailoring content and feedback to individual needs
- High-fidelity, interactive 3D simulations of defense electronic systems through the VTS platform
- Comprehensive curriculum coverage across all 34 BEE training modules
- Software-based courseware and attendant materials that deliver advanced curriculum
The adaptive training integration provides an AI-powered capability that personalizes the learning experience, producing better-prepared sailors at a faster and more cost-effective rate while ensuring they acquire the foundational knowledge needed for A school and future job tasks.
Program Impact
The BEE virtual training program supports the Navy's RRL initiative by delivering advanced curriculum and software-based courseware that helps address important challenges in apprentice technical training. By combining adaptive AI techniques with immersive simulation technology, the program modernizes training methods to prepare sailors for success in school and on the job, supporting the Navy's commitment to RRL.
